This year’s event has more mazes than ever with 10 new mazes at this year's event and five new scare zones! When you want to take a break from screaming make sure to watch the new JABBAWOCKEEZ show. Here is our review of this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights”.

Maze Reviews

Holidayz in Hell

This is an original maze based on last year's scare zone they had located in the backlot. This maze was so much fun to go through and see all the holidays go to hell. The maze starts at new year’s day and then the maze goes through all the major holidays and ends at Christmas. The music was also done with Figure which has done music in the past for Halloween Horror Nights mazes. Make sure to visit this maze because it tends to have long wait times at the end of the night.

Score: 5/5

Ghostbusters

When Ghostbusters was announced that it was coming to Halloween Horror Nights it was a surprise to everyone, and the big question on people’s minds was how would they be able to make this maze scary? Well, I’m here to tell you that they managed to make it scary by using a lot of new special effects in the maze. You will see all the characters from the movie and even all the villains from the film. Every little detail was put into each room of the maze it feels like you are in the movie. The scare actors did a great job of bringing the house to life.

Score: 5/5

Creepshow

This maze is based on the 1982 movie and the new Shudder TV series by Greg Nicotero. This maze had so many great scenes like Father's Day and The Create. There is a roach section in the maze which will scare you if you don’t like bugs. The last couple of rooms in the maze are based on the new TV series which has wolfs and mold-infested rooms. Make sure to watch the Creepshow movie it will help you understand what is going on in the maze.

Score: 4/5

Stranger Things

This year’s maze takes place during season 2, while Will is struggling to get away from the Mind Flayer you will enter the Hawkins lab and go into the upside-down. In this new maze, you will see many amazing special effects including huge puppets to make the Mind Flayer come to life. You will come face to face with many demidogs which are ready to scare you! This maze is very fun to go through and we hope it comes back next year for season 3 of the maze.

Score: 4/5

Jordan Peele’s Us

This maze is based on Jordan Peele’s new movie “US” you will follow in the footsteps of the Wilson Family as they face themselves. This maze did a great job of capturing the movie and creating the environment that the movie did. If you see the movie then this maze will give you goosebumps as you go through it and see the Wilson Family struggling to fight themselves and the laboratory in which themselves were created. There are many great moments in the maze but our favorite has to be the last scene in the maze which we don’t want to spoil it for you.

Score: 4/5

Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man

This is my number one maze for this year's event! I loved this maze the fact that you encounter Frankenstein’s monster and the Wolfman in one maze is amazing. The set design is gorgeous as you walk through a gypsy camp to Frankenstein’s tomb. I got scared so many times in this maze and the talent is top notch using scare tactics like a ping pong effect of scarring you on one side and then the next side surprises you with another scare.

Score: 5/5

Killer Klowns From Outer Space

This is one the mazes I was so excited to see for this year's Halloween Horror Nights! The costume and set design is just amazing. You will enter a circus tent in which these alien klowns live and how they eat humans made out of cotton candy. If you have never seen the movie, I highly recommend seeing it before the maze, it will help you understand what is going on in the maze.

Score: 4/5

House of 1000 Corpses

This maze is based on Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses horror movie. This maze was at Halloween Horror Nights before and its back again this year. It’s great to see this maze back again at this year's event but the maze does feel a bit shorter than the other year they had it.

Score: 3/5

The Curse of Pandora’s Box

This maze is an original maze that is not based on any movie, is based on Greek mythology with a modern twist. This maze had a lot of cool scenes and plenty of scares using black light to make effects stand out. What makes this maze stand out is the scare actors they had a lot of energy behind them which helped gives this maze a high score.

Score: 4/5
